JAG'S DOUBLE SEALS PRIME DEBUT WIN
ASHTON PRIME 2-1 CAPEL RESERVES
Sunday 20th August, Colebrook
A Tony Jagniaszek double either side of half-time helped Prime record an impressive debut win over Capel Reserves.
After a fairly even first half-hour, Jagniaszek latched onto Goldsmith's long free-kick before sliding a mis-hit shot beneath the hapless Capel replacement keeper Andy Warner.
Capel responded strongly after the break and, as Prime tired, they managed a bizarre equaliser. The ref ruled that Bendall's sliced clearance which was heading towards the roof of his own net, was in fact a deliberate pass-back - despite strong protests from Prime and sections of the crowd. The free-kick struck the inside of the post and had just rolled over the line before being cleared.
Capel then pushed strongly for a winner, but were repelled by the Prime backline - with Flamank in particular in excellent form.
With 15 minutes to go, Capel were hit with the sucker-punch as Leigh's long clearance found its way to Jagniaszek, whose finish was true this time, giving the keeper no chance.
Capel pushed forward in search of a second equaliser, but Prime hung on to claim their debut win.
Man of the Match: Tony Jagniaszek - his 2 goals proved to be the difference.
