Prime Still Pointless At Bayham
Ashton Prime 2-5 AFC Valour
For the first game this season, Prime named an unchanged defence and keeper for their match with AFC Valour. They were however, without Ellis, Whiting, Walter, Walsh and Smith-Foreman - with Mellors making his first start and French returning to the starting line-up.
Prime got off to a dream start when Leigh's monster clearance caused confusion in the Valour defence and their CB headed over his helpless keeper.
Prime were soaking up the visitor's attacks, but then Jamie Barker was forced off with a thigh strain - meaning Allcorn was moved to CB and Carl Barker made his debut.
Valour pressure resulted in them taking a 2-1 lead, but just before half time, Barker curled a left-footer just over the angle as Prime pressed for a leveller.
Allcorn's virus forced him off at half-time with Walters making his debut on the left of midfield.
A slick Valour move and a curled finish into the top corner made it 3-1, and a goalmouth scramble made it 4, despite Leigh making a number of fine saves.
Goldsmith entered the fray, replacing the stricken Lower, and his long throw was cleared to player of the month Matt Leaver who volleyed home an unstoppable 25 yarder.
The Prime recovery was short-lived however and a 5th goal soon followed as Valour broke through down the left and the striker rounded Leigh and walked it home to clinch the win.
Prime Man of the Match: Matt Leaver - His Riise-esque volley capped another impressive display.
Lineup: Leigh; Barr, Leaver, Gilbert, BarkerJ; Maynard, MatthewsR (c), Allcorn, French; Lower, Mellors; Subs (used): BarkerC, Walters, Goldsmith
