STRUGGLING PRIME BEATEN AGAIN
FRANT RESERVES 5-0 ASHTON PRIME
Saturday 16th September, Church Lane, Frant
An injury-ravaged Ashton Prime turned up at Frant with high hopes of chalking up their first points of the season. However, within 3 minutes this was looking like an uphill task as poor marking from a corner allowed a free header, which flew in beyond Leigh in the Prime goal.
Prime were really struggling to get a foothold in the game, but they did carry a threat on the break with Smith-Foreman and the pacy Jagniaszek looking dangerous.
However, a second Frant goal before the break left Prime a mountain to climb in the second period.
A spirited half-time talk led by captain Walsh seemed to do the trick as Prime started brightly in the second half with Smith-Foreman's 25 yarder flashing just wide and Jagniaszek failing to convert when through on goal.
However a cruel blow was dealt to Prime when a seemingly harmless cross from the right was headed into his own net by Bendall - against the run of play.
Prime responded by sending on Tayler for Buckland down the left and they continued to press with Whiting much more effective in the second period and Matthews and Leaver working tirelessly in the centre of the park.
But it was Garside, the Frant substitute who managed to net the 4th after a slick passing move.
With French unable to walk due to cramp, Goldsmith had no option but to bring himself on - despite his ankle injury. His frustration at the scoreline was taken out on the Frant left back in a heated exchange.
The 5th goal was harsh on Prime who had actually dominated the second half for long periods - but it wasn't to be their day.
Prime Man of the Match: Rob Matthews - battled hard in midfield.
