Prime Beaten Blackham Blue

Ashton Prime 0-5 Blackham & Ashurst

Ashton Prime succumbed to their third consecutive heavy defeat, despite a spirited performance in their first game in front of the home fans at Bayham.

With Smith-Foreman and Walsh adding their names to the lengthy injury list, Prime welcomed back Cheeseman, captain Skovborg-Hansen and Flamank - who made his full debut on the left-wing.

Blackham passed the ball around fluenty, but Cheeseman and Allcorn battled hard to keep the scores level, until the 20 minute mark.

Following a goal-mouth scramble, Allcorn was unlucky to get the last touch as Prime fell 2 behind before the break.

This was a touch harsh on Prime, who had put in arguably their best performance of the season, with the defensive unit looking solid.

Prime started the second half on the front foot, and Jagniaszek was put clean through following a flowing passing move involving Whiting, Skovborg-Hansen and Flamank - but he put his finish just wide.

This proved a costly miss as, despite a brilliant goal-line clearance from Allcorn, a mistake by Leigh allowed Blackham a scrambled third.

Prime responded by sending on Barr and Walter for the tiring Whiting and Skovborg-Hansen - but they couldn't stop Blackham extending their lead to 5-0.

Goldsmith continued his return to fitness by replacing the midfield workhorse Matthews, and this sparked Prime into life and Flamank blazed over with the goal at his mercy, and then the moment of the match occurred when Allcorn ran through the whole team, with a run worthy of Ryan Giggs, only to fail to hit the target with his finish.

All in all, it was a much improved performance, and with more players set to return to action in time for the next game, Prime will be hopeful of taking their first points as they visit High Brooms.

Prime Man of the Match: Phill Allcorn - excellent all round performance.
