Wood held as Prime make their point
Paddock Wood 0-0 Ashton Prime
Following two good performances, Prime arrived at the Memorial Ground confident of picking up their first points of the season.
Prime were without Leigh, Flamank and Mellors, so Skovborg-Hansen filled in between the sticks with Walsh and Carl Barker filling the other vacancies. Goldsmith, Garside and Sankey could only make the bench.
Prime started confidently and moved the ball around well - playing some attractive football at times, with the Matthews brothers linking up well down the left and Walsh and Leaver dominant in central midfield.
Prime suffered a blow after just 10 minutes as Kneebone tweaked a hamstring meaning Garside was hurried into the fray. This didn't disrupt The Numbers though, who continued to look the more dangerous side with Barker and Smith-Foreman linking up intelligently up front.
The visitors carved out a number of half chances - the best fell to Carl Barker who tried to cut back onto his favoured right foot when well placed. Leaver also flashed a 20 yard drive just wide, but on the break Skovborg-Hansen had to race from his line to foil a 'Wood break.
Skipper Matthews was replaced at the break by Goldsmith, but the game remained a very even contest. Prime's backline continued to look impregnable with Mazurkiewicz and Tom Matthews dealing with the wingers and Jamie Barker and Gilbert solid in the centre.
Skovborg-Hansen needed to make a couple of fine stops and also some impressive claims from crosses as the home side pushed with a flurry of corners. But Prime held firm and had chances to snatch all 3 points as Gilbert had a half chance and Smith-Foreman screwed a free-kick wide, before giving way to Sankey.
Prime were the happier side at the final whistle, but fully deserved their point.
