Roselands outplay dejected Prime

Ashton Prime 1-5 Roselands Reserves

Prime went into this fixture confident of coming away with the 3 points, after beating their Tonbridge-based opponents last season.

There was only one change to the starting XI with Leaver returning in midfield to replace the absent Ellis, with Goldsmith switched up-front.

Prime had the better of the early exchanges and could have taken the lead when Goldsmith's header released Skovborg-Hansen whose shot was well saved by the portly Roselands keeper.

However, The Numbers fell behind as Gilbert mis-judged a throughball leaving the pacy striker clear to slot past Leigh.

Prime responded well and following 10 minutes of pressure, Garside's inswinging corner curled into the net at the far post.

But Roselands again took the lead with another goal on the break.

With minutes to go in the half, Goldsmith was scythed down and couldn't continue - the injury is likely to keep him out until the New Year.

Carl Barker replaced him up-front and minutes into the second-half, Mellors replaced Gilbert who had been suffering with a neck injury.

But aided by the slope and the wind, it was all Roselands and they added 3 further second half goals to rub salt into the wound.

Prime's best moment of the second half came when Skovborg-Hansen appeared to get hauled down in the box by the keeper, but the ref gave nothing and there was to be no consolation for The Numbers, who looked dejected in the second period and are still searching for their first win of a frustrating season.

Man of the Match: Garside - Solid in defence and excellent set-piece delivery.
