Prime battle to first cup win
Roselands Res 2-5 Ashton Prime (AET)
On the back of 2 successive league wins, Prime travelled to Tonbridge keen to avenge last month's league cup reverse against Roselands.
Barnham was the only member of last week's winning side unavailable, so Goulding came in for him at left-back, leaving Skovborg-Hansen, Gilbert and Sankey to sit on the bench.
The game started evenly, but Prime looked much more dangerous with the two wide men linking up well with Excell and Barker up front.
The Numbers had already forced a succession of corners before they took the lead in bizarre circumstances as Kneebone's hopeful through-ball was completely missed by the keeper and Barker was on hand to roll the ball into the empty net.
Roselands battled to get back into the game and Latter had to be alert, but he was beaten just before half-time as a shot deflected off Goulding, but the post came to Prime's rescue.
Goldsmith and Excell were guilty of missing guilt-edged chances for Prime who had to be content with a 1-0 lead at the break.
Prime were still in the ascendancy in the second half with Kneebone skinning the Roselands left-back at will.
The deserved second goal arrived with 20 minutes to go as Excell finished coolly.
But Prime crucially let in a sloppy goal just 5 minutes later as a weak shot from the edge of the box evaded everyone and trickled into the corner.
Gilbert replaced Walters as Prime tried to see out the last 15 minutes, but from a late corner, Roselands' midfielder was left unmarked to head home.
Goldsmith tried to rally the troops before extra-time, reminding them that Prime had dominated the game and just needed to put the home side under pressure.
Gilbert switched to central-midfield and Skovborg-Hansen to the left-wing and Gilbert produced several efforts that shaved the post - enjoying getting forward for once!
The Numbers re-took the lead when an inswinging corner was headed into his own net by the centre-back.
The game was over as a contest five minutes later as Barker crossed for the excellent Kneebone who finished well.
Skovborg-Hansen could have added a fifth but he was denied by the keeper.
Sankey replaced the impressive Goulding for the second period and he helped the back four keep the home side's strikers quiet, allowing Barker to complete the win with a fine finish into the top corner.
