Prime late-show sends them top
Frant 0-2 Ashton Prime
The Numbers made the short trip up to Church Fields, Frant to face another of their old rivals.
With Garside absent, Gilbert made a welcome return and was given the captain's armband.
Skovborg-Hansen was also back in the Prime starting line-up, replacing Goldsmith up front, and with Walters absent, Lower started in midfield.
Prime started well, assisted by the slope, and they really should have been ahead within the first 10 minutes as Excell spurned a couple of good opportunities and Skovborg-Hansen's power and pace was obviously causing the Frant defenders problems.
With the slope of the pitch and a strong wind, playing conditions were far from ideal, but Prime were guilty - like last week - of resorting to long hopeful balls forward rather than trying to get the ball down and play.
Walker and Abu in midfield were linking up well again, but for all of their industry, Prime could not find a way through. The closest they came was when Kneebone and Skovborg-Hansen linked up down the left and the striker's near post shot was well saved by the keeper with his legs.
At the other end, the back four again looked very comfortable, with Barnham and Davis keeping both wingers quiet and Giblert and Mazurkiewicz keeping the strikers very quiet.
Both Prime wingers struggled to get into the game, with Kneebone and Lower switching wings mid-way through the half to try to get more involved. Lower responded immediately with a candidate for "showboat of the season" with a casual drag back and flick to find Abu.
At the break, Goldsmith urged his players to get the ball down and play and not rush to hit the ball long. Prime showed signs of improvement after the break, but again Excell and Skovborg-Hansen were limited to half-chances.
Sander replaced Lower and Goldsmith came on for Barnham to try and give Prime some impetus going into the last half an hour, but the game was now stretched and Prime has Kerton to thank for denying the Frant striker who was through one on one, following a rare lapse from Gilbert.
Prime continued to edge proceedings and finally they took the lead with just 10 minutes to go.
Abu curled in a pin-point free-kick and Walker's deflected header found the corner of the net, leaving Frant's unlucky keeper helpless.
Prime soon doubled their lead as Skovborg-Hansen was released on the break and he coolly slotted into the corner to confirm Prime's win.
The goal-scorer was immediately withdrawn, giving Postlethwaite a second appearance as Prime sought to run down the clock.
Frant threw everything they had at Prime, but Kerton made another excellent save and the impressive Sander was on hand to clear off the line, in a frantic finale.
Prime ran down the clock and picked up their first ever win at Church Fields to move joint-top of the table.
