Prime's pre-season campaign got off to a disappointing start at they went down to a narrow defeat on a scorching August afternoon.

A goal 5 minutes before half-time was the difference between the sides on a bobbly pitch at Ashurst.

Stuart Hodges took over in goal from the departed Lewis Kerton, with several new faces given their Prime bows. Jamie Sykes started at left-back with Chris Alton coming on at the back in the second half.

Prime improved gradually throughout the game after a lacklustre first 30 minutes, but strikers Ferguson and Fleming were starved of possession and the midfield 4 failed to create many chances of their own.

Prime will look for an improved performance next week at Division 1 side High Brooms Casuals Reserves.
